BI Basics For Parents at Home

Join us online for a three-hour introductory workshop for parents who want to learn how to teach their children who are early learners language and play skills. We will cover core topics such as reinforcement, prompting, language strategies, and more. You will leave the course with practical tools you can use during this time where BI supports are unable to come to your home. This workshop was designed to give basic information to parents and caregivers who are supporting special needs children at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. This workshop is developed for parents, and other individuals who work with or support children on the autism spectrum. 

AutismBC Training and Workshops are designed to build supportive, and inclusive communities for people on the autism spectrum. 

 

Topics include: 

  • The ABC's
  • Prompting
  • Reinforcement techniques
  • Language strategies   

 

*Note: specific behaviour challenges will not be covered.

Meet your instructor:  

Meet your instructor: Julee Bassetto is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). She designs comprehensive applied behaviour analytic or ABA programs for students on the autism spectrum in the home, school and community settings.  Julee has worked with students ranging from 21 months to 27 years old in all areas of the autism spectrum. In addition to providing behaviour analytic services to people on the autism spectrum, Julee also teaches the Principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis course at Surrey College which is designed to teach people how to be qualified support workers for students with autism within the Surrey School District. Julee completed a Master of Education degree in Developmental Disabilities with a Concentration in Autism at the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Fraser Valley.
