TOPIC:
Preference Assessments: Identifying Preferred Toys, Food, Locations, Interventions, and Instructional Strategies
 
The presentation will begin an overview of a variety of methods commonly used to assess children’s preferences for toys, foods, locations, interventions, and instructional strategies. The presenter will describe and demonstrate each preference assessment, provide examples of how each preference assessment might be used, and discuss considerations when choosing amongst potential preference assessments. 


SPEAKER:  
Tyla Frewing is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and holds a Master of Science in Applied Behaviour Analysis from St. Cloud State University. Tyla has worked with children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) for the past 17 years.

Tyla designs comprehensive behaviour analytic programs for individuals with ASD ranging in age from 3 to 21 years old, in home and school settings. Tyla is currently a doctoral student at the University of British Columbia and her research interests include comparative research on instructional strategies, evaluations of learner preference, and stereotypy.
