Exploring the Many Side of Mental Health: Port Alberni

Join us for 'Exploring the Many Sides of Mental Health', part of our educational series supporting the launch of our transition planning program - Launch into Life!

This 3hr workshops will examine the two sides of a family coin as sometimes the challenges and pressures of typical family life are magnified or multiplied by the additional stresses and obstacles of caring for a child living with a disability. The session will examine parental and youth mental health through a lens of lived disability and offer proactive and evidence-based practices that can increase mental health outcomes for your family, and, yourself as parent, guardian, or caregiver.

Facilitator
Jonas Breuhan is a clinical counsellor working for Pivot Point Cowichan. He currently works with a wide variety of clients, but mostly children and youth with an Autism Spectrum diagnosis, or poly-diagnosis. He attended the University of Victoria's School of Social Work for his Bachelors in Social Work, as well as a second Bachelors in Philosophy, with a major in Applied Ethics. Jonas went on to complete the Indigenous Community Counselling Program, a three year MA program that added specialized courses onto a typical counselling program. Additionally, Jonas has taught numerous classes throughout his university experience, and enjoys cooperative learning environments and interactive teaching techniques.

Registration is now open, but this session welcomes drop ins.
