Description

Waiting for Assessment: Prince George Pilot

Are you currently waiting for an autism assessment? With wait time currently exceeding 55 weeks* we recognized the need for greater support for families while they are waiting. This workshop will roll out throughout the province in 2019, however prior to launch we are running a pilot session in Prince George. The workshop will be facilitated by Michele Shilvock (BCBA).

This workshop will:

  • Allow you to learn more about autism and ask questions from a qualified BCBA.
  • Provide insight on how you can prepare for the assessment and what can you do while you wait?
  • Look at the decision between Public vs. Private diagnosis.
  • Provide information on what you can/should expect at the evaluation/assessment.
  • Give guidance on how to arrange support (this will look at how to prepare for the outcome, how to disclose information to family/friends/support workers/school etc.)
  • What happens after the diagnosis.

Thanks to the generous support of the City of Prince George and because this is a pilot workshop we are pleased to offer this event at $10 per family registration. If the registration fee is a barrier to you attending, please email events@autismbc.ca for more information on our bursary option. As this workshop is a pilot workshop we will be asking all participants to complete a short survey after the workshop.
